“Life is one big transition.”

Tired of shorts, T-shirts and short sleevers after months of nonstop wear? Despite fall’s fickle weather—when 80-degree days can continue well into October—cooler temperatures amp up the fashion factor. Think layering, textural interest, coats galore and denim: Outerwear offers endless styles and silhouettes; layered shirts and jackets add texture and depth; and muted palettes reflect the changing forecast.
Temperatures may be starting to drop, but cool, crisp conditions have yet to settle in. And it’s far too early in the season to break out the heavy sweaters, bulky overcoats and scarves. How to dress in the meantime? At Peter Manning New York, our curated compilation of wardrobe building blocks helps you segue into the new season. Starting with tops and outerwear, our proprietary sizing system ensures sleeves and hems at just the right lengths for our guys.
PART I – TOPS & OUTERWEAR:
Designed in double-faced cotton, our Cotton Pullover merges comfort and versatility. The perfect match for an Oxford shirt or T-shirt; pair it with shorts now and with jeans later. This fall, try the burgundy and olive hues.
Soft yet sturdy, our Quarter-Zip Sweater is crafted in 100% cotton. Like the Cotton Pullover, it’s a go-to look in-between seasons—wear it over a shirt or under a blazer.
Crafted in substantial Portuguese cotton and updated with a slim-fit silhouette, our Denim Shirt stands out as a classic casual staple. For late summer/early fall, choose the medium and dark washes.
Meet our must-have layering piece: the Flatiron Vest. Right now, wear it over a shirt; later in the season, just add a heavier jacket.
Our lightweight Harrington Jacket does double duty for both laid-back and dressed-up occasions.
Slub cotton infuses our long-sleeve Henley shirt with an ultra-soft texture. Wear it solo for late summer, or as a fall layering piece in black or burgundy.
Elevated by Supima cotton (the same great fabric as our popular James polos), our Long-Sleeve Polo Shirt complements both shorts (now) and jeans (later). Otherwise, dress it up with a sport jacket.
An essential off-duty look, the Weekend Oxford conveys a tailored, timeless sensibility. Hitting just below the waist, wear it untucked with jeans or chinos. Black and navy complement virtually everything for fall.
PART II – PANTS:
Men’s pants in natural fabrics lend themselves perfectly to transitional seasonal style. Jeans, meanwhile, are not only classic, but complement just about anything. Featuring slim and standard cuts, our cotton Chinos fit the bill for both the office and off duty. With inseams starting at 25 inches, our Jeans and Denim Pants focus on precise fit for shorter guys.
Crafted in 100% cotton, our classic Chinos are garment dyed and washed for a soft, broken in aesthetic. For fall, try black, navy, olive and tobacco.
JEANS & DENIM PANTS
What to wear all weekend long? Look no further than our jeans and denim pants. Designed in skinny, slim and standard fits, they’re designed in multiple washes and colors.
Stretch cotton ensures comfort and ease of movement for our Johnny Stretch Jeans, finished with tapered legs. Five washes are available, but we suggest the medium, dark, indigo rinse or black versions for fall.
Designed in sturdy cotton, our original jeans include slim and standard fits. Available in three washes, black and dark indigo work best for the new season.
Durability and ease of movement define our Travel Jean, crafted in cotton twill with a hint of stretch. With both slim and standard fits, it comes in four colors. For fall, opt for olive and dark grey.
